Bamburgh Castle was refurbishing the Victorian brass window furniture, however due to its unique nature, they were unable to source certain aspects of the Victorian brassware.

Following a full survey of the items which were needed, we 3D modelled the components which were individually different and through the use of state of the art EDM machining we managed to machine the complex shapes by means of erosion on the bronze material required.

Being a Listed Building JHW had to replicate exactly the furniture being replaced. Each item though similar to the next was individually different meaning that casting was not an option. Although, 3D printing could have been used the costs and materials available were both costly and difficult to source.

“After discussions with engineers at J H Wood, who used CAD drawings to replicate imperial sizes, they recreated the items we needed for us to a very high standard.”
